Dear colleagues and friends,

I have some exciting news to share with you. Last week (January 5, 2004) we had four important visitors -

Professor Edward Holmes, Vice Chancellor, University of California, San Diego, USA

Professor Kenneth R.Chien, Director, Insititute of Molecular Medicine, UCSD, USA

Professor John Wong, Dean, National University of Singapore

Professor Ajit Varki, Co-Director, GRTC, UCSD, USA



They visited several departments and had discussions with many members of our faculty. Consultations followed and we have decided on a tripartite agreement - University of California, San Diego, National University of Singapore and the Christian Medical College Vellore will enter into a partnership with a Memorandum of Understanding to work together in the years ahead. This will open out many new possibilities for CMC - staff and students placement, fellowships, scholarships, opportunities for collaborative research and other initiatives. We are grateful to God for this blessings given to us at the beginning of this year.
