After nearly sixty years, CMC has academically realigned its Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) Institute with the internally acclaimed Rusk Rehabilitation Institute of New York City. A relationship that was launched on September 1st brings back memories of the days when Dr. Mary Verghese, who worked under the tutelage of Dr. Howard Rusk in New York for 18 months, returned to Vellore to introduce rehabilitative medicine to India for the first time.

On July 1st, 2021, CMC re-opened the night schools and launched a new comprehensive developmental program for children and adolescents in the Jawadhi Hills through the support of a generous alumna.
In this talk, Dr. Prashantham explores how cultivating intrapreneurs within, with an entrepreneurial mindset; engaging with partners on the outside, with a collaborative mindset; and searching widely for inspiration, with a global mindset, can benefit nonprofits, while taking into account specific organizational contexts, like culture, resource constraints and local realities.
Over the last couple of weeks, CMC has responded in two key domains: First, the number of patients arriving at CMC each day with fever and breathing difficulty increased substantially as the pandemic wave shifted from the North and West to the East and South.
In response to the deadly second wave of COVID-19 in India, the Foundation has raised $1.41 million through a concerted effort with CMC, as well as through the efforts and effectiveness of our Board, alumni, faith-based community, loyal friends and more than 500 newfound donors.
