Join us on Friday, December 6, 2024 to celebrate Dr. Soumya Swaminathan’s humanitarian accomplishments and honor Dr. Ida S. Scudder’s legacy of compassionate and loving service for others. 

Dr. Soumya Swaminathan is a renowned Indian pediatrician and clinical scientist specializing in tuberculosis and infectious diseases. Formerly the Chief Scientist at the World Health Organization, she has significantly contributed to global health policy and research.

About the Dr. Ida S. Scudder Humanitarian Oration

The Christian Medical College Vellore (CMC) and the Vellore CMC Foundation, partnered to establish the Dr. Ida S. Scudder Humanitarian Oration to perpetuate the legacy of Dr. Ida Sophia Scudder. By honoring individuals who exemplify her compassion, integrity and character, the Oration seeks to inspire others to emulate her dedication to the well-being of humanity.
