The Impact of a Nursing Scholarship
In 2019, we launched an annual campaign to fund CMC College of Nursing (CON) scholarships for students in India. Since then, we have helped fund 37 students thanks to the support of the U.S. Nursing Alumni community, friends of CMC, and matching sponsors, like the United Methodist Women.
The impact of these scholarships has a ripple effect that positively alters the lives of not only the students, but their families and the communities they go on to serve.
The effect of these annuals scholarships is really heartening. Supporting nursing education not only helps fulfill the student’s professional dreams, but it also has a wider impact. We have multiple examples where entire families have been uplifted because their family member’s nursing education at CMC Vellore.
2022 Scholarships Campaign
As the world recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic, support for those most affected is needed now more than ever. Since 2020, the total number of students seeking a scholarship has increased from 230 in 2021 to 260 in 2022. CMC has also opened a new College of Nursing on its Chittoor Campus, and the need is even greater.
To help meet this growing need, our goal this year is to fund 20 full scholarships for deserving students to attend the College of Nursing. Thus far, we have raised the funds necessary to support up to 17 young girls starting the next academic year.
THE COST OF EDUCATION AT CON
- $3,400 for a four-year Bachelor in Nursing.
- $2,400 for a three-year General Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery.
