Celebrating Our 75th Anniversary
Shaping the Future of Healthcare Since 1948
When India gained independence in 1948, our organization’s Founder, Dr. Ida S. Scudder transitioned the CMC Board from a governing body into one dedicated to fundraising, friend raising, and ambassadorship that would help advance CMC’S vision to “seek to be a witness to the healing ministry of Christ through excellence in education, service and research”.
Since then, the Foundation has dedicated all of its resources to realizing Dr. Ida’s vision and supporting CMC in its efforts of creating a healthcare system best recognized for its virtues of compassion, integrity and innovation.
Celebrating with Our Community of CMC Friends and Supporters
To celebrate the Foundation’s 75th Anniversary, we are planning a number of virtual and in-person events, each of which is intended to pay tribute to you, our loyal supporters and partnership communities. Events planned include:
- Ten (10) Virtual Lecture Series events, the first of which took place on Friday, February 3rd. Our 2023 inaugural virtual lecture event was entitled “How CMC’s Research is Impacting India’s Health and Well-Being”, and our guest presenter was Dr. Gagandeep “Cherry” Kang, CMC’s most notably acclaimed medical scientist in recent history.
- Four (4) regional “friend and donor” cultivation events in the following cities: Washington DC, Boston, New York City and Atlanta.
- Our first is 5K Fun Run/Walkathon, scheduled to take place in Edison, NJ on Saturday, July 22.
- 75th Anniversary Gala being planned for early November in New York City.

The trademarks of CMC have always been (1) its display of true compassion when caring for the physical and spiritual needs of every patient, and (2) its ability to – with great fortitude – face and overcome every challenge and obstacle placed before it. As a tribute to these extraordinary qualities and to ensure the continued success of CMC into the future, the Foundation has launched its 2023 CMC Compassionate | CMC Strong campaign, our goal is to raise $1.25 million in support CMC’s continued pursuit of excellence in research, education and service.
