Let your light shine before others so that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. – Matthew 5:16.
The Vellore CMC Foundation, in tandem with the Christian Medical College & Hospital of Vellore (CMC), greatly appreciates the role of the faith-based community in CMC’s efforts to combat the COVID pandemic. Through the power of prayer, words of encouragement and financial support, the faith-based community has united to bring aid to healthcare workers and patients alike.
India’s national healthcare system has buckled under the pandemic’s second wave, and India is currently the global epicenter of the pandemic. The government of Tamil Nadu has asked CMC to urgently provide additional COVID-19 designated beds and increase the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit’s (ICU) capacity. CMC has been a leader in the country’s pandemic response, and recently opened a new, state-of-the-art complex that is dedicated to the care of COVID-19 patients. CMC’s rapid response is possible through the generosity of our partners, especially that of our faith-based community.
In the words of Deepika Srvistava, the Foundation’s Director of Church Relations, “As we’ve taken up the challenge to help CMC ramp up its ICU capacity to care for patients, our faith-based partners have responded to this “Kairos” moment with urgency and unwavering support.” (Kairos is the Greek word that describes an opportunity to respond with God’s empowerment to those in desperate need.)
Our faith-based partners have done just that, and we value the unique and historic role they continue to play in supporting CMC’s “Healing Ministry of Christ.” We extend our deepest gratitude to our partners who have leapt into action through their generous support.
